The proposal involves an intervention on the preserved former textile factory, carried out with maximum respect and modulation according to the existing structural grid. The pre-existing building is retained and “liberated” to ensure maximum adaptability, clearly distinguishing between the existing volume and the new addition, in a contrasting dialogue.

A central L-shaped volume is introduced, housing a 25 × 33 m swimming pool suitable for water polo, aligned with the Institut Quatre Cantons. The roof is conceived as a continuous public space: a square or a pool. The proposal creates plaza spaces on both sides, strengthening the relationship between public space, the sports and cultural facility, and the nearby educational environment. A thermal and acoustic green buffer is incorporated.

A secondary, lower volume contains the small pool at ground level and technical installations on the roof, while a low boundary element defines the garden and sunbathing area to the south.

The new intervention takes the heritage modulation as a basis to generate a pilaster rhythm that structures the overall composition. An integrated plinth acts as both support for the volume above and a continuous urban bench, connecting the facility to the human scale.
